About

Do you know AMC Entertainment? They probably have a theatre of theirs in your neighborhood. Well, they have this card. They call it the “Special Pass’. It gives the holder, and a guest, free movies for a year. Awesome right? Well they usually cough this up for charity events, silent auctions, you know the kind, and last year I got one.

Well the year came and went. And it was a fucking awesome year. Definitely got my money’s worth, just barely, but got my money’s worth. But the card came and went, and I could’ve seen a shit ton more shows than I did. Then came a new auction, and the opportunity for a new card. Spent twice as much, but I haven’t been seeing twice as many movies.

And then there’s this blog. I’ve had this blog since 2000ish. And I had this idealistic, and VERY foolish goal I was going to crush the Ain’t it Cool News, io9, SciFi Wire (I it’s “Blastr” now), and ICv2’s of the world. Part of me felt like some of these guys (not all, but some) were putting their opinions up for sale. And I thought I could do better.

But I’m not a complete saint. I remember reading this article before the .com bubble burst. This article about how young adults, like I was, were making a shit ton of money on these websites that were nothing more then them geeking out over their passions. I think this was before the “blogoshere” even had a name. And I can definitely say I had stars in my eyes, not to mention dollar signs.

Write and geek out about movies, and making money, who wouldn’t want to do that fulltime? Never let it be said I didn’t dream big, at the very least dream happy.

Well, safe to say, 9 years, 3 database failures, and 1 hacker attack later, I could never compete. But you never need a reason to geek out right? So I still sit, I write, but all the while trying to be something that I am not.

Well that has to stop. See I keep thinking, I have a movie blog, a resource to see a shit ton of movies, but I am not really using it. So I decided, I’m going to refocus. I’m not going to try and make this thing into something it can’t. I mean, traveling to conventions to wait in line 24 hours before a panel in Hall H just to get a scoop your competitors are all eventually going to get… there’s no fun in that.

And I do this for fun.  We all have our day jobs.  But we all need an outlet that’s not, well, our day job.  And this has been mine for sometime.

So what’s the refocus? Well, first and foremost, I think I am going to just talk about movies (and other geeky awesomeness). And with this card that I am not using enough… well, unless life gets in the way, I am going to see a movie a day until there are no more movies to see. And I am going to write about them here. One movie a day.  And I am going to keep this up until my card expires. Because chances are, not gonna get another card. So let’s do this right, and go out with a bang.

So if you know me, give me a call, we’ll go see a movie.

So my card expires in May of next year.  10 months, a shit ton of movies, let’s see what magic happens.

The funny thing about this revelation? The first movie I saw after I had it?  Julie and Julia. Which kinda had this same idea. But I promise I had first!

Anyway, welcome to FUZZYBUG.NET. I’m not the greatest writer, but I hope you enjoy my opinions. And I hope you come back often.

Until my next post I remain,
