Why “had”?

Well, it’s recently been brought to the publisher’s attention that little Simmons may have plagiarized artwork in his series from Manga artist, and Bleach creator, Tite Kubo.  Radical released a statement that included, “Radical is taking swift action… to maintain the integrity and protect the intellectual property of artists throughout the world.”  In response, Kubo’s American publisher, Viz Comics, released a statement in response to the all the circus by simply saying, “We are currently investigating this issue.”

I have to say that I can definitely appreciate being inspired, and influenced by another artist’s work.  But having Bleach fans posting art comparisons between Bleach and Incarnate… it’s pretty hard not argue fault.  And it’s unfortunate too, though I haven’t read Nick’s book, it’s clear he can hold a pencil and pen.  To have talent be wasted by taking a shortcut is a shame.  Especially one where their family would provide opportunity for the taking.

As far as Tite Kubo’s opinion in all this?  He’s merely said that he’s found it “interesting” that Gene Simmon’s son is a comic book artist.
